ESSENCE – A Digital Way to Develop the Skills of the Future<\/b><\/h2>\n

Soft skills<\/strong> are becoming a necessity in today\u2019s workforce. With the growth of emerging digital companies<\/strong> and the increased competition in the global job market, employees need to be well-rounded and have strong soft skills.<\/span><\/p>\n

This article will explore the ESSENCE<\/strong> project, funded by the Erasmus+ programme<\/strong>, which aims to increase the employability of university students<\/strong> and its graduates through the development of soft skills.<\/p>\n

Nowadays, it is crucial to match both technical knowledge and soft and intangible skills. To meet the demands of employers and recruiters connected with the most desirable competencies, the demand-driven employers’ perspective guided the structure of the courses.<\/span><\/p>\n

GOALS – The Importance of Intangible Qualities<\/strong><\/h2>\n

According to the <\/span>research<\/span><\/a> published by the <\/span>World Economic Forum<\/b> in 2016, in the era of <\/span>digital automation<\/b> and <\/span>AI<\/b>, career success factors are facing significant changes in all industries as time passes (especially in those with high technological coefficients).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nowadays, strategic competitiveness depends more and more on intellectual capital assets: <\/span>the fourth industrial revolution<\/span><\/a>– where new technologies such as the Internet of Things (<\/span>IoT<\/span><\/a>), <\/span>robotics<\/span><\/a>, virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (<\/span>AI<\/span><\/a>) dominate the world- hence the need to create new managerial talents that are also highly empowered on both technical knowledge and soft and intangible abilities.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

ESSENCE project\u2019s aim is to create a complete set of new<\/span> soft abilities<\/b> on the students and fresh graduates to enhance their educational and labour market competency.<\/span><\/p>\n

In order to achieve this result, during the project partners developed training, courses, educational modules, content and, last but not least, <\/span>4<\/b> operational tools<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

THE 4 INTELLECTUAL OUTPUTS<\/b><\/h2>\n

1 – OER Platform<\/b><\/h3>\n

The <\/span>OER platform<\/b><\/a>, available in seven languages, is meant to reach different <\/span>international populations:<\/b> students, trainers, and teachers who specialize in labour, business experts with substantial knowledge in HR and PR, entrepreneurs, and managing directors. The material has been transcoded into an<\/span> e-learning format<\/b> for the target groups and other stakeholders to benefit.<\/span><\/p>\n

2 – Mapping the Soft Skills<\/b><\/h3>\n

The <\/span>2nd Intellectual Output<\/span><\/a> linked soft skills with employability by mapping the <\/span>most desirable soft skills<\/b> among employers within the EU countries based on questionnaires distributed among the private sector and business associations.<\/span><\/p>\n

3 – Toolkit to Learn New Abilities<\/b><\/h3>\n

For each soft skill identified as fundamental in the mapping\u2019s process, a <\/span>Training content<\/span><\/a> is available, more specifically:<\/span><\/p>\n
